What a great coffee for the price! It seems sweet and “chocolatey” to me. We have an espresso machine at home and a grinder. This makes a great espresso drink. My husband likes it but not as much as I do, but I add milk and sugar to mine and he drinks his black. All in all, still a wonderful coffee and a fabulous price! And delivered to your front door!! We love this coffee and this is the best price you will find for this coffee. Our son was visiting a couple of weeks ago and found he too loves this coffee. Now he is switching from his old brand. The only problem with ordering this coffee thru Amazon is that it is not always available and will have to wait for it. I got mine in a short time, but this is my first time ordering the 5 lb bag. I followed the other reviewer’s advice and signed up for monthly shipments. Rating: 5 / 5

Good news! There are no signs of actual human beings in the Coffee People Human Being Organic.
The package they came in was very thick aluminized poly that was vacuum sealed and the roasting/packing date was only a few weeks ago.
The beans themselves are roasted dark and so oily that they will literally stick to your fingers. They are not burned in the slightest…but they are a full on dark roast somewhere between French roast dark and Italian roast dark/burnt.
When my package arrived today, I ground enough to pull a double shot of espresso right away. First attempt pulled way too fast and was thin with no crema at all. I adjusted for a finer grind, tamped a little more firmly and tried again. Second attempt was about perfect on extraction at 25 seconds or so, had good crema and a nice body/mouthfeel. The flavor profile was pretty similar to other properly roasted dark coffees in that it was bold and dark tasting, but still clean and with some complexity as opposed to just burnt. (Hello, *bucks!)
After sampling straight espresso, I pulled another shot for an Americano to drink as a regular coffee. (I take my regular coffee with milk.) It makes a delicious Americano that would be a great breakfast coffee, or a dessert coffee with something sweet.
The bottom line is that these beans are well worth the price and comparable to some specialty roaster’s espresso beans that I’ve paid as much as ten bucks a pound for in the past. If you like dark coffees with low acidity and a bold flavor, you’ll probably like these beans. I’d have been satisfied at twice the price. Rating: 4 / 5

The beans arrived freshly roasted (roasted on Dec 29, 2009). Lots of oil on the outside of the beans, which is a good sign. Flavor is good. For $16 shipped with the subscribe/save discount, this is a steal! Rating: 4 / 5
